Hoodies for the Homeless: Donations of hoodies, coats and winter accessories will be accepted in the Walker Hall Lobby. This event will take place the entire month of November.
Saturday Night Fever: A weekend event for Walker Hall Residents.
Call of Duty Drawing: This is a chance for students to win the latest edition of Call of Duty. The cost will be $1 per chance and $5 for six chances to win. Students can get their chance to win starting Wednesday, November 4 to Tuesday, November 10. The winner will be announced on November 12, 2009.

Ranken's new President, Stan Shoun is very supportive of Walker Hall and the family who lives there. Mr. Shoun told me (Dorm Mom) he wanted to visit and hang out with the students one evening. I thought it was a great idea! I told him we will call it..."Pizza with the President".
September 15, 2009 was the day! Mr. Shoun and his assistant Ms. Capps came to the house (Walker Hall) and brought pizza for everyone! He talked with students as we had dinner. It was an opportunity to hang out and really get a chance to express concerns as well as ideas with the President.
Did I mention the pizza?! It was really good and no one had to cook dinner! Thanks President Shoun!
Well, I am back. Life in Walker Hall has changed with the growth of resident population. We have started into the new territory of programming and it has been pretty successful. The first for September was, "Microwave Cooking for the College Student". Our teacher, Bryan Rogers demonstrated how easy it was to cook "real food" in the microwave. The menu was moth-watering...Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and S'mores! The meal was excellent! I also am a big fan of door prizes. There was a set of microwavable dishes won by Joe! The pictures tell the story!

Your Walker Hall Dorm Mom is back! I have a new staff of Resident Assistants and 73 new students! If you remember, last semester only 30 residents lived in Walker Hall. We are growing and we even have two women in our dorm.
August 21 and 22 were move in day and it was fun and exciting. Half of my veterans from last semester returned and assured me of their support with the new students. They were a great group last semester and I have no doubt they will keep things going smoothly.
Stay tuned for more activities. We will have tons of programming for the residents such as... Microwave Cooking for the College Student, Pizza with the President, Wednesday Walker Workouts and many more!
Hi Everyone!
Spring is here and the family at Walker Hall is ready to enjoy it! On March 31 we had a video game night. I am no gamer so it was no surprise that I died in the game in...15 seconds! Once the food was out the fellas were ready to play! Halo is the hot game for Walker Hall. Call of Duty and NBA Live were also on the menu. Students enjoyed the night so much they are asking if it can happen once per week.
April 1 was flag football! The fellas were in rare form! They were bobbing and weaving everywhere! Oh...I almost forgot there was a bit of trash talking too, but all in good fun. This will be a weekly event until the end of the school year.

Hi Everyone!
Your Ranken Dorm Mom is back! We have been excited about Spring Break which is right around the corner. This semester, students will not be in the dorm for Spring Break. Although it is only for a week we have been working hard in classes and in the office. I think we can all stand a short break.
Walker Hall residents have a Hall Meeting once per month and today was the day! This time is used to update students on the policies and other news going on in the hall. We also use this time to celebrate!
We celebrated birthdays for January, February and March! There was a huge cake thanks to Fresh Ideas (campus food service). Residents were so surprised! Here are a few pictures I wanted to share.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2009 the family of Walker Hall joined together to support our Resident Assistant, Jason. Jason Kelts is a mixed martial artist who was scheduled to compete in a match on Friday, March 6, 2009. There was music, food and great times. There was also a ticket to the match up for the taking. A ticket was purchased by The Hall Manager for a drawing! AJ won the golden ticket!
Friday was the big night. There were several students who attended to support Jason. The report at 9:10 pm was Jason won! He dominated his opponent and the match was stopped in the first round!
