NOVI, MI – BrassCraft Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer of plumbing products for over 65 years, is partnering with Ranken Technical College to promote plumbing as a profession while assisting in the development of the next generation of professional plumbers.
Ranken Technical College located in St. Louis, Mo., is a private, non-profit institution of higher education whose primary mission is to provide the comprehensive education and training necessary to prepare students for employment and advancement in a variety of technical fields.
“BrassCraft Manufacturing is working with Ranken to support academia to provide product enriched environments in which to learn the plumbing profession”, stated Deb Lewis, Brand Manager for BrassCraft Manufacturing. “It is BrassCraft Manufacturing’s mission to support well-rounded education practices on varied plumbing systems for students. This is exactly what Ranken Technical College provides.”
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2014 the US will need 21% more plumbing technicians. More than a 1/3 of skilled professional plumbers will be aging out of the workforce. BrassCraft Manufacturing worked with Ranken’s plumbing department to field test new products that meet the provisions of the Federal Reduction of Lead in Water Act which becomes effective January 4, 2014. The student evaluation of these no-lead products provided feedback ‘with fresh eyes’ and the opportunity for BrassCraft to enhance products for the next generation of plumbers.
A wide array of BrassCraft® products are Designed, Machined and Assembled in the U.S.A. These products include no-lead compliant connectors, fittings, water stops and valves that meet provisions of the Federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act. This legislation becomes effective on January 4, 2014. For more information, please visit www.brasscraft.com.
