Hello everyone! It looks like I made it back for one last semester at Ranken. I hope everybody had a great Christmas and New Years because the break from school is long gone now! In the Ranken ESDT program at we’re back in the classroom starting on a number of different projects for this semester. Our final months of school will be spent working with lighting programs such as Lithonia Visual, which we will use to design lighting layouts for buildings and their exterior surroundings. We’ll also be learning how to operate cutting-edge electrical estimating programs such as McCormick and National Estimator. The class has already started on one of the commercial projects for spring 2007 which is the complete electrical design and cost estimation of a half-way house where former inmates go to assimilate back into regular society. Our class just recently met with the St. Louis engineering firm that oversees the production of our design drawings. The firm designed the real-world version of the building and is guiding the ESDT class through the whole process. Stay tuned for updates!
