In October 2010, Habitat applied for a Pepsi Refresh Grant that would create a Sustainable Learning Center. This would give St. Louisans an opportunity to learn about and participate in sustainable home construction. This house will be constructed in the same manner as other Habitat for Humanity homes built and certified under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program. However, each build day will be used as an educational opportunity to provide detailed information about sustainable building. Habitat’s goal is to provide a living, working, classroom for participants, so they can be afforded the opportunity to physically construct and practice sustainable construction techniques. Students, faculty, and staff can help in the effort by voting for the project! Pepsi Refresh Grants are awarded based on a public vote, so please vote often.
