Ranken recently donated a Bridgeport vertical mill to the Industrial Arts and Woods department at Jerseyville High School in Jerseyville, Ill. Alan Snyder is the teacher of the department and has been teaching metals throughout the area for years. According to Ranken’s Precision Machining instructor, Brian Austwick, "Alan has always been really supportive of Ranken. Machines like this will introduce his students to a new trade, which they otherwise wouldn’t be able to try or afford."Prior to the donation, Jerseyville didn’t have a mill in the shop.
"This will be an ongoing relationship, I hope we will be able to donate more to their shop as we get updated machinery in ours, both schools are continuing to grow," said Austwick.
Along with Austwick, Ranken Automotive instructors Al Davenport and Ron Raines delivered the mill to the high school and stayed for the day to provide demonstrations to the Industrial Arts students.
